Adult group sailing classes start at the beginner level with an understanding of basic boat handling and nomenclature being the primary goals.  Instruction in the private or semi-private setting can be adapted to the student interest level, be it pleasure sailing, basic racing, or as crew for skipper/owner.  Classes begin with land-based discussions and demonstrations followed by on-the-water instruction where skills like upwind sailing, downwind sailing, reaching, and docking are covered.  The J/22 sailboat will be the primary training boat.  As the class progresses, other boats will be made available to provide exposure to the sailing characteristics of different designs. Participants need only to provide their own life jackets.
